British Council launches new English language learning platform
The British Council, the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, has launched a new Drupal-based online learning platform, developed by CTI Digital.
The new ‘EAL Nexus’ platform enhances the resources available to assist in learning English as an additional language. As a rapidly expanding area of focus for the British Council, the site meets the needs of a diverse range of users including teachers, learners and parents, with a core goal of helping young migrants integrate into society.
Focused on high standards of usability and accessibility, the new site represents the beginning of the British Council’s drive to harmonise its digital offering. A ‘mobile first’ approach was taken throughout the design and development stages to provide an optimal user experience across a range of devices.
Caroline Drummond, EAL Nexus project director of the British Council said: “The new EAL Nexus site will play a key role in helping to support those teaching and learning English as an additional language in the UK.”
Paul Johnson, head of Drupal at CTI Digital, added: “We have developed a user friendly and accessible learning platform that brings together a wealth of resources, while punching well above its weight with regards to industry best practises. We are proud to have been part of a project which will have a positive impact on people’s lives.”
CTI Digital’s clients include the Greater London Authority, Great Ormond Street Hospital, London Gatwick, Manchester Central, Mercuri International and Travelodge.
