The nominations for the Social Buzz Awards have been revealed, with Jam leading the way with a whopping 12 nominations.

The Social Buzz Awards, in association with iomart, look to reward the most effective social media campaigns and strategies, with this year’s team of 24 judges led by James Whatley, social media director at Ogilvy & Mather.

Whatley said: "The entries for this year's Social Buzz Awards were interesting because the standard of entries varied wildly from the absurd through to the truly outstanding. This was a double-edged sword for the judging panel. Yes it made it easier to cut the wheat from the chaff but, when it came to deciding the overall winners, it also meant fairly heated and passionate discussion over what makes good social. Overall, I'm really happy with the way the categories have been awarded and am 100 per cent confident that the best work has won throughout."

Other judges covered the length and breadth of the industry, from brands such as Disney, Telefónica Europe and BBC to agencies including Lost Boys (previously MRY), Havas Media and M&C Saatchi Group.

Tim Lion, European head of social media at Sony, and one of the judges, said: "Many solid entries, I thought, including quite a few that seem to be tracking with, in fact leading, the changing shape of social marketing. The old cliche of being hard to judge because of universally high quality entries held true for me during the judging of the awards"

Merinda Peppard, EMEA marketing director at HootSuite, added: “These types of awards are of paramount importance to the industry to showcase the power and real ROI of social. I was delighted to see so many entries where social was truly integrated into the wider marketing mix and really capitalised on the real-time and highly targeted nature of social media. It was clear that for many brands in the UK, social is no longer working in an organisational silo.”

Agencies which followed Jam in racking up the nominations include 1000heads (nine nominations), Paddy Power and We Are Social (both with eight nominations) and Manning Gottlieb OMD (six nominations).
