Deezer, the digital music streaming service, has rolled out a stripped back design for the web, with the aim to put music recommendation at the fore for users.

The new design will showcase the breadth of its music catalogue of over 35 million tracks, with personalised welcome screens being contextualised with time-zone and location, most listened to tracks, genres, artists, playlist and radio suggestions based on mood and taste.

Alexandre Croiseaux, vice president of product at Deezer said: “Deezer has built a global audience of over 16 million people, so we have access to a huge amount of usability data, meaning we can adapt the service to the needs of our users.

“We believe our new design is truly smart in terms of both form and functionality, and we are putting the focus squarely on what matters the most – the music.”

Inspired by uncluttered tablet design, a sidebar provides one-click access to your entire library and core features of the service.

Earlier this year Gerrit Schumann, vice president of Europe at Deezer, told The Drum that the streaming industry was at a ‘tipping point’, and that those who still believe in listening to music on CDs would discover that music streaming platforms such as Deezer “see benefit without losing the legacy”.
