H&M plots online expansion with up to 10 new markets planned for 2015

H&M is set to open up to 10 new online stores by 2015 following successful launches in China, Italy, France and Spain this year.

The retailer said sales in the new markets have “got off to a very good start” and reported a seven per cent increase in sales to £3.8m across the company in the third quarter.

Expansion continues for the Group’s other brands COS, Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday and & Other Stories. COS will open stores in five new markets in 2014, in Australia, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan and the US as well as online in the US.

Meanwhile & Other Stories will open stores in Belgium, the Netherlands and the US, as well as online in Ireland, Austria and the US.

H&M Home also continues to expand with around 15 new H&M Home markets planned for 2014.

Karl-Johan Persson, CEO said the retailers online stores are “a very important complement” to its physical stores as they allow H&M to expand its offering to consumers.

An extended shoe range will also be launched in the autumn both online and in store.
