Sky’s Kay Burley says ‘Soz’ for branding Yes supporter a ‘knob’
Sky News presenter Kay Burley has been forced to apologise for an intemperate remark during a live broadcast from the campaign trail after being accosted by a supporter of Scottish independence.
Burley was reporting from Aberdeen on Wednesday when a supporter allegedly attempted to hit her cameraman with a stick, prompting the veteran presenter to blurt out ‘a bit of a knob’ – unaware that her microphone had been left on.
The incident culminated a series of attempts to interrupt the broadcast by hecklers and forced Burley into making a public statement of contrition on Twitter.
Soz for poor language - never alone with a microphone! Challenging environment ;-)

Some Twitter users then leapt to Burley’s defence…
@HuffPostUK @KayBurley Leave her alone. She is the tops. put your stick down & grow up. — Janice Ward (@1JaniceWard) September 17, 2014
… although others were less forgiving….
@KayBurley Hey Trout face. Cant wait to ram the YES vote right by you cretin!
