Hovis has appointed Mother to handle their advertising account, replacing incumbent JWT.

Appointment: Mother will handle the Hovis advertising account

The move follows the recent appointment of former Diageo marketing director Philip Gladman in August after the departure of Matt Hunt. The brand is undergoing a £200m investment to freshen its appeal and drive growth.

The Hovis brand has gone through bigger change recently after owner Premier Foods struck a deal with venture capitalists Gores Group, which now owns a 51 per cent stake in the company.

A spokesperson for Premier Foods told The Drum that the brand would make an official announcement imminently. At time of writing, The Drum was awaiting a response from Mother.

A spokesperson for incumbent JWT told The Drum that the agency didn't take part in the pitch for the new account.

In 2013, Hovis’s brand spend - according to Nielsen figures on Brand Insight - was almost £175,000 with the majority going on outdoor advertising and the rest on press activity.
