Sky News will redeploy its main news presenters to Scotland next week to cover the Scottish independence referendum as international media flocks to the UK ahead of the vote.

Coverage: Kay Burley is among presenters heading to Scotland

Presenters including Adam Boulton, Sarah Hewson, Kay Burley and Niall Paterson will all be stationed in Scotland for the vote, while the broadcaster’s political team and reporters – including Faisal Islam, Joey Jones, Anushkha Asthana, James Matthews and Rachel Younger – will provide coverage from across Scotland throughout the week.

For the vote count throughout the evening of 18 September and morning of 19 September, Adam Boulton will be in Ingliston, Kay Burley in Glasgow in Niall Paterson in Aberdeen. The broadcaster will have a presence at all 32 counts throughout Scotland.

The reporters will join an assembly of UK and international media in Scotland as the spotlight turns on the future fate of the union. A record number of Scots have registered to vote in the referendum.

Polls close at 10pm on 18 September, and a result is expected on Friday morning.

John Ryley, head of Sky News, said: “Sky News’ Scottish referendum coverage will offer our customers everything they need to know about this momentous decision that will decide the future makeup of the United Kingdom.”

The broadcaster will also provide live digital and social media updates and analysis when the count gets underway.
