Music network Box TV on Wednesday released its more “visually playful” logo refresh for Magic TV, which it claimed was designed to make the brand more fun and appealing to audiences.

Magic TV's new logo

Box TV, the owning company of multimedia brands 4Music, Kerrang TV, Magic TV and more, created a set of new logos, idents and on-screen presentation to inject more fun into the music channel's existing creative.

Most notably, the redesign sees the dot in Magic’s ‘i’ replaced with entertaining context-sensitive objects.

Francois Cassin, art director of Box TV, told the Drum: “We were briefed to revamp Magic TV and bring the new logo to life on-air as an exciting new design package. For the idents we’ve created 26 beautifully executed 3D scenarios where the dot of the ‘i’ is replaced by a key element from the scene.

“These playful juxtapositions are then combined into multiple variations and permutations offering a much greater flexibility than conventional branding.”

Furthermore, Box TV has also updated its on-screen presentation with a single font which is designed to look somewhere between 2D and 3D. It will be used to deliver all the channel’s vital information.

Box TV, a joint venture between Channel 4 and Bauer Media, activated the brand refresh on Tuesday.

Earlier this year, Box TV partnered with music-streaming service Spotify to launch the ‘Official Streaming TV chart show’.
