Primark has announced it is to open up to 10 stores in north east America, just months after it revealed it would be taking its fast fashion business to the US.

The first store will open in late 2015 at Downtown Crossing in Boston, Massachusetts, with the rest of the stores to gradually open by 2016.

The announcement comes as owner Associated British Foods said it expects sales for the full year at Primark to be 17 per cent ahead of last year, boosted by warm weather and a strong Christmas period in 2013.

Last year revenue at Primark, though not split into a percentage of sales, was £4.27m.

The retailer has so far opened 28 stores this year including Alexanderplatz in Berlin, Bath in the UK and Enschede in the Netherlands.
