PHD, part of Omnicom Media Group, has appointed Michael Florence as head of planning.

Florence joins from Manning Gottlieb OMD, where he is currently creative director.

He said of the appointment: “PHD’s planning legacy makes this role the best of its kind in UK media. Being given the opportunity to build on that legacy is an irresistible opportunity and an honour.”

His new role, which he will take up in November, will see Florence oversee the planning output across the agency’s entire client base and reporting to PHD’s chief innovation officer, Frances Ralston-Good.

Ralston-Good said: “After an exhaustive recruitment process where he was up against some of the industry’s finest, Mike’s appointment speaks volumes for his talent. His blend of creativity, intellectual rigour and cultural fit make him the perfect appointment. We can’t wait for him to start.”

Prior to his six years at Manning Gottlieb OMD, Florence worked at TBWA, Carat and Vizeum.
