Bloomberg Sports data analytics firm acquired by Stats
Sports data and content firm Stats has acquired Bloomberg’s four-year-old sports data analytics firm, Bloomberg Sports (BSports), for an undisclosed sum.
Deal: Stats has acquired Bloomberg Sports
Stats will combine BSports with its Sports Solutions Group to bolster its capabilities and products in sports data for its range of clients, and the deal is the first since Stats joined Vista Equity Partners’ portfolio of companies in June. BSports analytics services are currently used by Major League Baseball teams as well as broadcasters and agents.
BSports president Bill Squadron will stay on and a statement said the BSports division will continue to use Bloomberg Sports technology.
Gary Walrath, Stats CEO, said: “On behalf of everyone here, I would like to welcome the team at Bloomberg Sports to the Stats family.
“Our mission is to revolutionise the way sports are viewed, understood, played and enjoyed. The addition of BSports’ very talented team and compelling portfolio of products significantly bolsters our global strategy.”
Squadron said he was “thrilled” with the development.
