Cheeky actor James McAvoy on Friday nominated the heads of the Yes and No Scottish independence campaigns to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, after Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho enlisted him.

In the video, McAvoy said: "As it is the year of the Scottish referendum on independence, I'd like to nominate our political champions Alistair Darling and Alex Salmond to do their very worst."

Better Together leader, Darling, beat Scottish first minister Salmond to the punch, taking the challenge first, in London's Leicester Square, with the help of the Better Together staff - who he nominated to go next.

The video was published on Twitter with the hilarious hashtag '#WetterTogether?'.

Alex Salmond confirmed he will take the challenge, he said: "I'm always up for any challenge, and I'm game for this one.

"It will invigorate me for the next month of campaigning - but the Scottish media should be careful what they wish for, as I get to nominate who's next for the ice bucket."

Many celebrities, politicians and stars have taken the Ice Bucket Challenge so far, here's a round up of the ten best attempts.
