R.O.Eye managing director heads down under to lead expansion in Australia and New Zealand

Gavin Male, managing director of performance marketing agency R.O.Eye, is to relocate from the UK to New Zealand to lead the establishment of a new office in Auckland.

With existing offices in London, Manchester and Berlin, the agency’s new Auckland office is a response to the increase in brands demanding a unified, global approach to performance marketing activity and the expected boom in the Australiasian digital market over the next three years.

Male said: “Consumer demand is shaping how retailers are doing business more than ever before and the rapid growth of online shopping is driving change in the retail model throughout Australia and New Zealand. This change, and by proxy the growth of affiliate marketing has been impressive and with these territories predicting double digit growth over the next three years there is a great opportunity for retailers to move into a more performance driven marketing model.

“We will be recruiting local in-market talent once the Australasian division is up and running, starting with account management and business development staff. The tracking, technology and back office support will be provided by the UK and Europe parent company and we will also be utilising the time difference elements to provide 24 hour, follow the sun support for our European clients."

While R.O.Eye currently has no active clients signed in Australiasia, “a number of enquiries and increasing demand from current clients and prospects” have led to the decision to expand according to Male.

He said: “We want to be in market before taking up clients in the territory to ensure we have the right profile and tools to communicate and grow those clients’ activities on the ground.”

R.O.Eye founder Mark Kuhillow, who will now direct the European and UK business, said: “The primary objective for our continued international expansion is to best serve the requirements of our ever-growing portfolio of multi-territory clients."

In other international news, in October, R.O.Eye will add Germany to the list of European territories (the UK, France, Italy and Spain) it manages for the eBay Partner Network programme. The move will see four new team members recruited to manage the account from R.O.Eye’s Berlin office.
