Tennent’s Lager has released a new Facebook app which can transplant famous football haircuts onto user uploaded pictures to celebrate the start of the new season.

Users can give themselves’ the famous football makeover they desire with haircuts including Henrik Larsson’s dreadlocks, Roberto Baggio’s ponytail and Alan Rough’s perm - in a drive to boost the brand’s social engagement.

Supporters can then share the football card style pictures on Facebook, in a strip colour of their option. Using the library of images they can create a look that would put them in a starting eleven from any decade.

The app, which went live today, can be found on the brewer’s Facebook page.

This comes after a range of Tennent's campaigns - including installing a 26 foot TV on the side of its distillery to show passer-bys the brewer's best ads.

Jane Cannon, markering manager for Tennent’s Lager, said: “With the new season starting, we decided to have some fun with football’s fashion faux-pas by giving supporters the opportunity to sport their very own ‘classic’ look.

“And the best thing is, they don’t need to actually ask their barber for it – or wait four weeks for their normal hair to grow back.”

The brewer marked the Commonwealth Games last month by touring a cheeky ‘yer patter’s like watter’ machine through Glasgow pubs to acclimatise tourists to the area.
