Virgin Atlantic has parted ways with RKCR/Y&R and selected Adam&EveDDB as its lead creative agency.

RKCR/Y&R has handled the account for over 20 years, with Reuben Arnold, director of brand and customer experience saying that the company has been “a critical part” of its success for the past two decades.

“It was a very difficult decision to part with RKCR/Y&R who demonstrated great thinking and ambition during the pitch process. During [the past 20 years] they have created some truly iconic and memorable advertising and we are hugely thankful to them. We’d also like to say a special thank you to our account team there who have continued to act with total dedication and professionalism in running our business throughout this process.” he said.

The review kicked off in March and The Drum understands that agencies involved in the final stages had spent in the region of £1m in the process.

Arnold said he had been “impressed with the level of commitment and thinking” demonstrated by all of the agencies but Adam&Eve’s".

The airline will work with RKCR/Y&R over the next few months to deliver projects that are currently in progress and the agency will continue to represent the Virgin Atlantic brand outside of the UK.

Existing agency partners Naked Communications and Manning Gottlieb OMD are unaffected by the appointment.
