Trinity Mirror COO Mark Hollinshead to join Great North Run organiser Nova International as CEO

Trinity Mirror chief operating officer Mark Hollinshead is to join Nova International, the organiser behind the Great Runs across Europe.

Hollinshead, who is expected to take up the role of group chief executive in the Summer of 2015, will head up the operation to develop the brand further in the UK and across Europe as well as its digital offering and sponsorship propositions.

“Nova is a World Class business with a great team and a market leading portfolio of events and TV production services. The whole sports marketing and events sector is growing rapidly and I am delighted to be joining the team to further develop our 'Great' brand in the UK and international markets,” commented Hollinshead, who has served as deputy chairman of the company, holding a place on Nova’s board for the last two years.

Brendan Foster, chairman of Nova International, added: “I am delighted to welcome Mark as our new group chief executive. He uniquely combines a strong interest and knowledge of running and athletics and vast experience in marketing, publishing and strategy development.

"As market leaders in mass participation events the company is in a strong position to grow both in the UK and internationally and Mark is hugely committed to driving the growth agenda”.

Nova currently organises The Bupa Great North Run and also owns TV sports production company Film Nova.
