This year’s Scottish Creative Awards will introduce four new categories recognising editorial excellence thanks to a new partnership with the Scottish Newspaper Society (SNS).

In order to better recognise and encourage best practice within commercial departments the SNS - which runs the Scottish Press Awards - will hand out awards for Best Newspaper Display Campaign/Section, Best Newspaper Classified Campaign/Section, Best Newspaper Creative Solution/Invention Campaign and Best Newspaper Digital Campaign on the night.

Of the partnership, SNS president, Thelma Henderson, managing director of Scottish Provincial Press, said: “Be it digitally or in print, Scottish newspaper companies remain central to the way businesses connect with their customers and markets. So we are delighted to have established this partnership with The Drum to showcase the best examples of how the industry works with its clients.”

John McLellan, SNS director, added: “This is an exciting new venture for the SNS and such recognition of the excellent work going on in Scotland's newspaper advertising and marketing departments is long overdue.”

As part of the venture the SNS will also be helping The Drum put together an expert panel of judges which will be announced shortly.

Entries for the new categories can be submitted until Friday 22 August, with more information on entering available on the Scottish Creative Awards website.

The finalists for this year’s creative and strategy awards will be announced on Tuesday 12 August with the awards taking place on Thursday 9 October at Glasgow’s Marriott Hotel. Information on how to book tickets can also be found on the Scottish Creative Awards website.

The Scottish Creative Awards are supported by Eastern Exhibition & Display, Primesight, Chesterfield Group and News UK.
