Video distribution and monetisation solutions provider Rightster has struck a deal with Summer in the City (SitC), the largest independent UK YouTube event, to live stream the 2014 event and share its online video knowledge with the YouTube community.

YouTube star Zoella will appear at the event

SitC, now in its sixth year, attracts over 8,000 attendees from across the world in a celebration of ‘all things YouTube’.

Taking place 8-10 August at Alexandra Palace the event will feature live performances and appearances from YouTube personalities including Zoella and Michael Stevens of Vsauce.

SitC will also offer seminars, discussion panels, sponsor stands and hands on activities to help educate aspiring YouTubers.

In addition to live streaming the event via the official SitC YouTube channel, Rightster will appear on panels during the inaugural Creator Day and throughout the weekend to discuss topics including ‘Working with brands’, ‘Networks’ and ‘Building a channel without a face’.

Simon Walker, CCO, Rightster commented: “Rightster is delighted to be partnering with the Summer in the City team for this year’s event. YouTube is a huge part of what we do and with the recent acquisitions of Base79 and Viral Spiral we are now the largest multi channel network outside of North America.

"The acquisitions mean we have a fantastic team of passionate industry experts and talented creators who can share their knowledge with the community. We hope to make this the best event yet for SitC and look forward to continuing our partnership over the course of the next 12 months.”

The partnership will run until July 2015, with Rightster continuing to engage with the audience through the channel management of the SitC YouTube channel and by releasing weekly SitC highlight clips post-event.

The partnership follows Rightster’s acquisition of Base79, a rival company, and viral content management company Viral Spiral in a deal worth upto £50m.
