Athlete Usain Bolt has asked journalists not to “create lies” to fill headlines after a report in The Times newspaper claimed he described Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games as “a bit shit”.

Spat: Usain Bolt

Bolt tweeted that the story was “nonsense” and his manager, Ricky Simms, told the BBC the claims were “utter rubbish”.

According to The Times, the Olympic champion also replied “not really” when asked if he was having fun in Scotland.

However, an angry Bolt – who will run on Friday and Saturday as the athletics competition comes to a close – took to Twitter to refute the story and called on journalists not to “create lies”.

A Times spokeswoman told The Drum that the paper is standing by its story.
