Wikipedia blocks US Congress from making changes following ‘disruptive editing’
Wikipedia has issued a 10-day block on anyone from the US House of Representatives making page edits, following a series of changes, including suggestions that US defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld was “an alien lizard” who “eats Mexican babies”.
The changes, which were brought to light by @congressedits, also saw Ukrainian politician Nataliya Vitrenko called a "Russian puppet", and JFK’s assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald described as being "on behalf of the regime of Fidel Castro".
Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales told the BBC: "Maybe someone at the House of Representatives better think about their IT staff - they might be hunting them down this very moment."
One member of the House said that the ban was due to the actions “of two or three”.
