SMG appoints Havas’ Frank Durrell as digital strategy and technology director

Starcom Mediavest Group (SMG) has appointed former Havas director Frank Durrell to the newly created role of digital strategy and technology director of Global Network Clients (GNC).

Durrell, who most recently was customer relationship management director at Havas EHS, will be responsible for helping drive digital integration and innovation across its client portfolio which includes UBS, Samsung and Novartis, reporting to Jodie Stranger, executive director, GNC Operations.

Commenting on the appointment Stranger said: “As the industry pivots around innovation, digital, technology and data we are constantly looking beyond media to create innovative communications solutions that deliver compelling human experiences for our clients. Frank is a true digital pioneer and his extensive experience and proven track record make him an exceptional candidate to ensure we remain a leader in this space.”

Prior to his time at Havas EHS, Durrell was head of digital at TMP Worldwide for three years, and before that we was digital strategy director at OgilvyAction. During his career has worked across clients including Unilever, TSB, Eon, Peugeot, Nestle Purina, Hasbro, Disney, Vodafone, Jaguar Land Rover and Virgin Media.
