Babak Parviz, the pioneer of Google Glass, has announced that he is moving to Amazon, a move that he is “super excited” by.

It is believed that the Iranian-American scientist will be working on optics at Amazon, with the Firefly feature on the Amazon Fire phone allowing users to recognise the objects around them.

Despite being cryptic about what he will do at Amazon – his Google+ announcement on the move can be seen below – Parviz has been working on smart optics systems for over ten years, with intelligent contact lenses one of the areas on which he has focused.

Google replaced Parviz as head of Google Glass in May, with Ivy Ross now holding the position.
