LG has released wrist-mounted wearable tech designed to inform parents of their kids' locations in addition to allowing easy communication.

The KizON could also track dementia sufferers

The watch-like kit uses GPS and Wi-Fi technology to provide parents' location information straight to their smartphone or tablet.

The 'One Step Direct Call' feature has been designed to let parents easily communicate with their kids throughout the day. Furthermore kids can call their parents easily without having to dial a phone number.

After three ignored or missed calls from the pre-configured numbers parents will be automatically connected to the gadget where they can listen in through the microphone.

KizON, which has a 36-hour battery, will initially be available in the colours blue, pink or green.

Dr Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG, said: "Children as well as the elderly are ideal customers for wearable technologies.

"Wearables allow us to stay connected without the worry of losing a device or the inconvenience of having to carry a large item in a pocket. At LG, we’re committed to exploring more ways to incorporate wearable devices into consumers lives in line with our vision to become a leader in wearables.”

KizOn will first be released in South Korea on 10 July before being available elsewhere.
