The Wall Street Journal is marking its 125th anniversary today with exclusive content published globally in print and online – including a cover wrap featuring a reproduction of its first ever front page together with annotations detailing how those behind the headlines have fared since.

A separate report, The Future of Everything, will also be published online and in print, with a series of guest writers sharing their thoughts on what the next 125 years might bring.

This includes a piece by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg detailing the impact of connectivity, a contribution from musician Taylor Swift and some words from Morgan Stanley CEO James P. Gorman.

An interactive online archive will also be published allowing people to browse themed archived content with the click of a mouse.

Gerard Baker, Editor in Chief of The Wall Street Journal, said: "Today the Journal's reach is global and its news agenda goes beyond business to cover politics, entertainment, arts and culture and much more. But we remain true to those founding principles: to offer the most accurate, the most intelligent, the most objective account of the news that moves markets, defines history and changes lives."

Since 8 July, 1889, the paper has grown from a four page newsletter selling a few hundred copies at 2 cents apiece to become the largest paid-circulation newspaper in the United States, with more than 2.2m subscribers.
