Addison Lee, the minicab company, has appointed W Communication to handle its national and international PR, following a pitch led by AAR.

Previously held by Ogilvy, W will now handle consumer media relations, reputation and issues management, B2B communications, social media and corporate profiling for Addison Lee.

Peter Boucher, chief commercial officer at Addison Lee, said: “We were very impressed with W’s credentials but also their passion and enthusiasm. They had a fresh view on how to take the business forward with the right cultural fit.”

The agency will activate an integrated programme of media engagement across print, broadcast and online media for the company, which has a fleet of more than 3,500 cars.

Warren Johnson, founder and CEO at W, said: “It’s an exciting time to be operating in the highly competitive private hire space, making this a great win for W. Addison Lee is the biggest player in the sector, and we are looking forward to working together to build the brand and find new ways to connect with its loyal fans.”
