Kanye West has been announced as a surprise last-minute addition to the Cannes Lions festival, attending a seminar on Tuesday afternoon as a guest speaker.

Kanye's recent addition to the roster was a surprise for many

The seminar, dubbed ‘Translation: Technology, Culture, And Consumer Adoption: Learning to Read the Cultural Landscape’, will see West share his expertise on being a venture capitalist in the digital age with a focus on how he grew his brand to a global scale.

West’s late addition to the roster bolsters a star-studded festival with the likes of Bono, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jared Leto, Ralph Fiennes, Patrick Stewart and David Hasselhoff also attending presentations across the week.

Whether his addition to the seminar was a well maneuvered PR stunt or a fortuitous but late negotiation is unclear however Kanye West is without a picture on official Cannes Lions schedule list (pictured).

The Cannes Lions festival, now known as the “festival of creativity”, was initially more focused on advertising. It has since expanded its horizons into the creative industry which has helped attract some big names. The CEOs of the world’s biggest tech and media companies also regularly attend and provide presentations.

The celebrities have bolstered crowd excitement. This afternoon, pictures of Sarah Jessica Parker's pink shoes dominated the twittersphere as she took part in a Cosmopolitan presentation. Furthermore Patrick Stewart received over 1200 mentions after his appearance on Sunday.

Over 12,000 people will descend upon the Cote d’Azure for the festival. It will run from June 15 to June 21.
