Disney and public health programme Change4Life are set to partner for a “major” new campaign to encourage children to exercise every day.

As part of the ‘10 Minute Shake Up’ campaign, Disney is providing its characters to feature alongside the Change4Life animated family, produced by Aardman Animations, to create exclusive content for schools, TV, print and online media, social channels and for face-to-face events.

The aim of the partnership is to inspire children to do a number of 10 minute bursts of activity per day.

Sheila Mitchell, marketing director, public health England, said: “This partnership with Disney is really exciting. Evidence shows that children have a unique bond with Disney as a brand, their stories and its characters.

“By utilising this already established connection we aim to drive our keeping active messages amongst children and families, helping Public Health England to push forward with the goal of helping more families to eat well, move more and live longer.”

Disney and Change4Life are hoping that the emotional connection children have with Disney stories will help to encourage them to lead a more active lifestyle.

According to research carried out by Disney 87 per cent of mums said that a Disney healthy living programme would help their families.

Those who sign up to the campaign, which will run for six weeks from 15 July, will receive a free ’10 Minute Shake Up’ pack in the post.
