Infographic: $5.7bn spent on sponsorship and ads during World Cup - but how is it generating buzz?

$5.7bn has been spent on sponsorship and advertising for the 2014 World Cup, with 17 per cent of a football game dedicated to commercials.An infographic created by Offerpop, using statistics from Crimson Hexagon, has discovered that 50 per cent of the world's population is expected to watch the World Cup, with 350,000 tweets being sent each day about the tournament.Crimson Hexagon has found that discussion on social media so far is largely centred on promotional advertising and marketing engagement, as well as general chatter about the cup.
