Budget retailer Primark is embarking on a shopping spree with a difference as reports suggest it is within days of completing a £60m purchase of Birmingham’s Pavilions shopping centre to transform it into one giant Primark store.

Currently one of Britain’s fastest growing fashion chains the retailer enjoyed 14 per cent sales growth year-on-year, giving it the confidence and cash reserves to think and act big.

The existing mall stretches to some 250,000sq/ft with Primark intending to convert half of this space for its needs whilst sub-letting the remainder, presently occupied by the likes of marks & Spencer, H&M and Waterstones.

Primark currently has 269 stores worldwide totalling 10m sq/ft of floorspace following a success ful European expansion in France, Spain and Germany.
