Smokio e-cig ad promotes life expectancy boost to puffers

Smokio, a brand of e-cigarette, is looking to steal a march on its competitors with the launch of a smartphone connected e-cig which automatically calculates how many days of your life have been saved with each puff.

The marketing gimmick sees a custom app keep track of how frequently you smoke and the concentration of nicotine in the body, calculating how badly that will dent your life expectancy by way of encouragement to kick the habit.

Using a carrot and stick approach however the app also computes how many additional days on Earth vapers can expect to enjoy by switching to electronic cigarettes instead of the traditional tar filled varieties.

Controversy still abounds as to how safe e-cigarettes actually are however with governments scrabbling to amend existing legislation to accommodate the new line of products.
