Asda is to stand by a wearable England flag which looks similar to a Klu Klux Klan outfit, claiming that it will prevent supporters getting wet. The flag, which includes a hood, has been put for sale in stores for around £3, according to The Telegraph, with ‘England’ written in red across the back. Images posted on Twitter provoked an angry response.

Despite the reaction to the flag, Asda has said that it plans to continue to sell it ahead of the World Cup. A spokesperson for the supermarket giant told The Telegraph that it was also planning to sell a Brazilian flag in a similar style. "We opted for a hood on our wearable England and Brazilian flags as you never know what the British weather will bring,” they added. "We want customers to get behind the team without getting wet."Last year, Asda pulled a Halloween costume of a ‘Mental Patient’ following a similar furore caused by Twitter.
