Pringles has created a giant lucky football boot from 1,500 Pringles cans to bring luck to the England team, after learning that Brits are a superstitious lot.

The 5.3 metres long, 1.8 metres wide, 1.9 metres high structure weighs 490kgs – taking a team of designers, sculptors and engineers 278 hours of manpower to build, and includes 1,500 cans of Pringles.

This comes following a study by Pringles which discovered that 50 per cent of Brits insist on sitting in the same ‘lucky seat’ to watch each match, while 45 per cent will only drink from a ‘lucky’ pint glass.

Gavin Bowyer, marketing manager, Pringles said: “The idea of creating the ultimate supersized talisman was to bring our players luck and influence their performance this summer. The lucky boot has toured England to get football supporters match ready and send positivity and luck to the players in a bid for them to bring home the cup.”

The boot was blessed by the Rev. Mark Townsend outside Wembley Stadium ahead of the England team’s warm up clash against Peru today,

The Reverend said: “With more than 13 years' experience performing special ceremonies, the world’s largest football boot is certainly the quirkiest thing I have ever been asked to bless! I hope that through the flow of expectant wishes and positive thinking we will bring the England football team luck ahead of kick-off in Brazil.”

Following the England match, the boot will be placed at the National Football Museum in Manchester from 2 June.
