Ahead of the European elections on Thursday 22 May, Ukip has taken out a full-page ad in several newspaper, to insist that the party is not racist. The ad takes the form of an open letter from party leader Nigel Farage, and states ‘Let me be clear - Ukip is not a racist party”, before stating that 92 per cent of ATM crime in London is committed by Romanian gangs. The open letter from Farage comes as he said he was ‘tired’ when he told a radio station "I was asked if a group of Romanian men moved in next door, would you be concerned? And if you lived in London, I think you would be”.Farage’s letter then ends “It is not racist to want to stop organised criminal gangs undermining our way of life – it is common sense.”
