Toyota brings real-time advertising to print with topical Jay Z/Solange piece
Toyota has carved out a topical niche for itself in the US by running a full-page newspaper advert that pokes fun at recent celebrity gossip reports of an elevator punch-up involving rap superstar Jay Z and the sister of Beyoncé, his celebrity wife. The ‘pop culture’ opportunity saw Toyota ditch its current marketing strategy to produce the rapid one-off piece which depicted one of the manufacturers estate saloon’s nestled between the words ‘Jay-Z’ and ‘Solange’ alongside the catch line, ‘for when you need space’.This ties in with the car giants current advertising push detailing its flexible storage accessories such as roof racks.
