Coral is taking a man, usually hidden behind a microphone, and putting him front and centre of its World Cup advertising campaign – ‘Coral. Proud sponsors of Brazil.’

But before you get too excited the tongue-in-cheek campaign sees the bookmaker sponsoring former international footballer Alan Brazil’s TalkSport radio breakfast show.

Usually seen but not heard, Brazil’s fate will change over the duration of the tournament as fans logging on to Coral’s World Cup microsite will be able to watch video previews by Brazil on all aspects of the World Cup as well as his predictions for the major matches.

Brazil said: “Not only are Coral ‘Proud Sponsors of Brazil’, come 9 June they’ll be sponsors of Brazil in Brazil as I broadcast all the gossip, rumours and up to the minute news live from the tournament. Anyone who listens to my show will know I’m not short of an opinion so I’m hoping to spark a bit of lively debate and predict a few winners.”

Coral PR director, Simon Clare, added: “Alan Brazil has a huge following amongst football fans across Britain although many of his younger listeners will not know that Alan has experienced World Cup football first hand when he played for Scotland in Spain 1982. He will bring this previous experience, and his extensive knowledge of modern-day football, to life in a series of daily blogs and TV interviews in his own inimitable, no-nonsense style available exclusively on the Coral news-site throughout the World Cup.”

Coral is also offering customers ‘Money back if either Brazil or Argentina win the World Cup’ following Roy Hodgson’s unveiling of the final England squad yesterday. The deal is available from today until 12 June when the tournament kicks off and is available to all online, mobile and telephone account customers for up to £25 of the win part of the win and each-way bets.
