The UK version of Yahoo's personalised sports app has launched today on iPhone, iPad and Android, on the same day as the Android version of the Yahoo News Digest has rolled out.

The launch marks the latest stage in Yahoo’s ongoing commitment to mobile, following the iPhone launch of Yahoo News Digest at the start of the year, with the app providing two daily news 'digests' at 8am and 6pm.

Nick D’Aloisio, product manager at Yahoo News Digest, said: “The Android version of the Yahoo News Digest was built specifically with a new home-screen widget that will display the most recent unread digest for easy viewing. Unlike other home-screen widgets, the Yahoo News Digest widget keeps track of the digests you’ve read and offers the same count down as in the app until your next digest is ready.”

The sports app looks to provide team and player pages, news and match by match updates, customised based on the interests of each user.

Ian Nolan, director of sports, EMEA, said: “We’ve tailored the experience for our football obsessed UK audience, ensuring the experience delivers the matchday information that matters, like line-ups, team formations and goal alerts, at your fingertips as soon as they happen. We’ve incorporated more in-game, team and player stats than any app out there, which will put Jeff Stelling and his Saturday afternoon panel of experts to shame.”

Both of these announcements come as part of Yahoo’s move to roll out across more platforms and into new territories.
