The BBC has launched a pop-up Eurovision radio service to cover events across this weekend’s Eurovision song contest.

Service: The BBC has launched Radio 2 Eurovision

The broadcaster worked with magneticNorth to create the service – ‘Radio 2 Eurovision’ - which will run alongside output from BBC Radio 2, BBC One and BBC Three.

The service went live today (8 May) and listeners can access it on DAB digital radio, online and on mobile, and it will be hosted on the iPlayer Radio app.

A statement from magneticNorth said: “MagenticNorth have been working with the Radioplayer team for some time now and this project has seen magneticNorth work with the team there to give BBC Radioplayer the capability to quickly create pop-up digital services, with ‘Radio 2 Eurovision’ being the first.”

The service will be available until Sunday 11 May, the day after the Eurovision competition.

MagneticNorth was previously commissioned by BBC Radio & Music to build a new version of the UK Radioplayer console, which is a partnership between the broadcaster and UK commercial radio stations.
