The merger between Carphone Warehouse and Dixons Retail is expected to be announced before the end of next week.

According to Sky News, Dixons Carphone Group plc is the considered name for the companies following the £3.7bn merger, which will see the companies named as equals.

In February, Dixons said that it was in the ‘preliminary stage’ of discussions with mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse.

It is believed that Sebastian James, chief executive, and Humphrey Singer, chief financial officer at Dixons, will take on the same positions in the new company, while Sir Charles Dunstone, the Carphone Warehouse co-founder, is expected to become chairman.
