Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad steps down aged 88

Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad has stepped down from all official roles he has held at the Swedish furniture chain since its launch, at the age of 88.

According to the Financial Times his departure marks the first time the retailer will be without its founder as a member of the board since its launch in 1943.

He will remain in an advisory capacity.

Last month Ikea kicked off the latest phase of its ongoing 'Wonderful Everyday' campaign, aimed at encouraging people to think differently about the way they live at home.
