DDB Australia has appointed Whybin\TBWA’s Toby Talbot as chief creative officer (CCO) based out of its Sydney office.

In his new role Talbot will work alongside executive creative director (ECD) Dylan Harrison, following the agency network’s creative restructure in the region.

His appointment, together with the recent hiring of Damon Stapleton as CCO at DDB New Zealand, forms part of its strategy to “magnify” the senior creative offering in Australia and New Zealand.

Talbot, who will take up his new role in the summer, joins from Whybin\TBWA, where he is currently CCO – a role he has held since last February.

Prior to that Talbot was ECD of London-based RKCR/Y&R, a role he left after a year to return to New Zealand.

Before making the move to London has had worked for DDB Aukland, where he played a core role in the growing reputation of that creative team.

Managing director, DDB Australia, Andrew Little, said: “Under Dylan’s tenure DDB Sydney has produced outstanding commercial and creative success over the past three years. Following suit with New Zealand we have appointed Toby as chief creative officer at DDB Sydney to amplify our creative firepower and continue to develop effective, relevant and outstanding campaigns. Toby and Dylan are both world-class talents – what a partnership!”

Marty O’Halloran, chairman DDB Group Australia and New Zealand, added: “We are delighted to welcome Toby back into the DDB fold. He led the creative department in DDB Auckland to tremendous success and we always secretly hoped he would return to us one day.”

Talbot will start his new role in July.
