Facebook group Women Who Eat On Tubes has been turned into a private group, following a series of complaints that it violates privacy and objectifies women.

Since debate began about the page over the past few weeks, several similar pages have been set up, include ones in protest of the practice, such as Men Who Post on the Women Who Eat On Tubes page – as well as a group called Women Who Eat Wherever the F*** They Want.

“WWEOT is observational not judgemental. It doesn't intimidate nor bully.

“Women are embraced and cherished. We celebrate and encourage women eating food on tubes. We do not marginalise them. We always look for the story in the picture,” the group description on Women Who Eat On Tubes states.

The Facebook group was set up by filmmaker Tony Burke.
