Sajid Javid MP appointed as culture secretary, replacing Maria Miller
Prime minister David Cameron has announced the appointment of Sajid Javid MP as culture secretary, replacing Maria Miller, who resigned following an expense scandal.The MP for Bromsgrove studied economics and politics at university, and has a background in banking, previously holding the role of financial secretary to the treasury. He will be replaced in this role by Nicky Morgan MP, who will also be minister for women. Cameron said that he hopes Miller will be able to rejoin the cabinet ‘in due course’.This year’s budget saw the amount of money given to the department of culture, media and sport set to be boosted to £1.2bn for the new financial year.
Sajid Javid MP is the new Secretary of State for Culture, Media, Sport and Equalities.
