Proof once and for all that Gordon’s alive: chef and sports enthusiast Gordon Ramsay led a ‘Flash Gordon Mob’ in Los Angeles yesterday (13 March) to promote Sport Relief.

Hosted by British Airways to bring Sport Relief to the 350,000 Brits living in Los Angeles, the event took elements of a ‘flash mob’ and combined it with a ‘mini fun-run’.

Ramsay said: “There’s so many British people living and working in LA, so it’s great to be able to cook up some awareness for Flying Start and Sport Relief! I’m currently working here too, so it was nice to see so many Brits, as well as locals, coming along to show their support.”

Ramsay and 35 volunteers, including British Airways staff, as well as expats and ‘Angelinos’ invited through the ‘Brits in LA’ community, completed a 100 metre run in Santa Monica: some dressed in chef whites, others dressed as Flash Gordon.

Mary Barry, British Airways’ community investment manager, said: “What a great way to bring Sport Relief to the many Brits living in LA. We are very passionate about our Flying Start partnership and want to thank the generosity of our customers and everyone at the airline who continuously support our partnership.”

The airline has raised more than £6.5 million through is ‘Flying Start’ partnership with Comic Relief.
