Blakemore Trade Partners, the Spar division of A.F. Blakemore, has appointed Sarah Ellis to head up its marketing division.

Joining after 13 years as McCann Manchester, where she worked on the Aldi account, Ellis will be responsible for the delivery of innovative marketing solutions.

"I think there are two real growth areas in grocery retail - discount and convenience and I've spent the past 10 years working in the discount sector with Aldi,” Ellis said.

"The possibilities in convenience are huge and A.F. Blakemore has a reputation for being at the forefront of new initiatives.

"I have learned a lot about the sector over the past decade and I now aim to use consumer insights and tactical use of media to create compelling campaigns for Spar."

Blakemore Trade Partners managing director, Jerry Marwood, said that Ellis is “well placed to develop new ways of promoting the strong brand, and retailer and consumer proposition”.
