Jerry Daykin, currently European social media marketing manager at Mondelez has been appointed as global digital director for the Mondelez account at Dentsu Aegis Network.

In his new role, where he will work at Carat, Daykin will be handling the chocolate and coffee categories for Mondelez, with a focus on Europe, outside of the UK.

Daykin told The Drum that the new job will provide a great opportunity to push forward on digital innovation, adding that it was “exiting not to have to say goodbye” to the brands which he had worked with and loved.

He had joined the Cadbury team in 2010, and then oversaw the social media element of the brand’s successful London 2012 Olympic sponsorship.

Daykin was due to start a new role as head of digital marketing at Iglo Group, which trades as Birdseye in the UK - an appointment revealed earlier this year.

However, he had not yet begun the new role and he said the decision not to take up the role had been "amicable" on both sides.

Daykin is also a judge for The Drum's forthcoming Marketing Awards in May.
