Marketing Manchester is looking to put the city on the international real estate map this month at the world’s largest real estate show, MIPIM 2014 in Cannes, and has appointed leading mobile development agency RE:SYSTEMS to create a mobile app that aims to attract attendees to the Manchester at MIPIM stand using innovative beacon technology.

Available to download for both iOS and Android smartphones prior and during the exhibition, the Manchester at MIPIM app will act as both an itinerary scheduler and a promotional tool for stand representatives and potential clients at the exhibition. With the addition of beacon technology, delegates will be able to find out who is on the stand and their business details via LinkedIn. Users signed into the app will then have the option to facilitate meetings and conversations between relevant contacts and automatically ‘check-in’ to either the stand or another meeting point.

A local area map will be capable of pinpointing the user’s current position and highlighting areas of interest within the exhibition hall. Marketing Manchester will also have the capability to push messages about events, presentations, special offers, and relevant Twitter feeds for encouraging social engagement.

Taking place in Cannes between 11-14 March for the 25th year, MIPIM is the largest real estate show for property professionals worldwide. As a regular visitor to MIPIM, RE:SYSTEMS recognises the event as the perfect platform for collaborating with Marketing Manchester and showcasing how beacon technology can revolutionise indoor communications for the property market.

Still in its early stages, beacons are small wireless sensors that broadcast tiny radio signals to mobile devices. When positioned in different places they can enable app users to receive personalised, micro-location based information via their smartphone or tablet, using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).

Andrew Stokes, chief executive at Marketing Manchester, commented: “We are thrilled to have RE:SYSTEMS as a sponsor of Manchester at MIPIM this year. The launch of the mobile companion app will help to raise Manchester’s international profile at MIPIM, encouraging collaboration and engagement between our partners and the high-level delegates who visit the exhibition. On a broader level, it is also intended to showcase the abilities of the Manchester’s tech-community, and therefore the opportunities that this kind of technology can offer the property sector.”

Representatives from RE:SYSTEMS will be available on stand B1.00 to discuss mobile and web-based solutions for different property audiences, and provide demonstrations of Tractivity CRM software for the public consultation and economic development markets.
