GlaxoSmithKline’s vice president of global media, Sameer Singh is to chair this year’s judging panel for The Festival of Media Global awards.

The awards, which include 19 categories, will be announced at this year’s Festival of Media in Rome in April, and will also include Diageo’s global vice president for marketing innovation, Venky Balakrishnan and Tom Gill, global media director of Heineken International.

Four new categories will be introduced for this year’s awards, including Best Content Creation, Consumer Research, Data Innovation and a Retail Award.

Guinness World Records has partnered with the Festival to create a special category within the Festival during the event this year in Rome, Miami and Singapore, that will celebrate record-breaking media campaigns.

The festival has already announced that Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon will lead the keynote addresses for this year, and is set to discuss the building of his own brand.

Meanwhile, Craig Hepburn, global director of social media and digital for Nokia, Kimberly Kadlec, worldwide VP global marketing group, Johnson & Johnson and Lewis D'Vorkin, chief product officer for Forbes are also due to speak at the event. A discussion will also take place with MTV founder and Clear Channel Communications CEO, Bob Pittman, and attendees will also hear from AS Roma's digital content manager, David Collett and Net-a-Porter's group mobile manager, Sarah Watson.

The first Festival of Media of this year, in association with The Drum, will take place on 6-8 April at the Cavaleri Hotel in Rome.
