Virgin Atlantic has launched a new mobile platform promising to offer a “unified experience” to consumers searching for content on the go.

The digital platform was developed in partnership with DigitasLBi and is the latest phase in Virgin Atlantic’s ‘Web Futures’ programme.

The mobile experience follows the same design language as the brand’s desktop digital presence, with all modules built using fluid techniques to ensure that they work across any future mobile platforms.

Key features of the platform include a new Flight Status function, an easy to navigate home page, and increased content about destinations and other essential information such as airports and baggage.

“Increasingly, our customers are using mobile devices to search for information about their flights so it’s essential that we begin to deliver a seamless experience across all platforms,” explained Giles Perry, digital transformation lead at Virgin Atlantic. “We’re delighted to be launching a new mobile presence which allows customers to reach the content they need, wherever they happen to be.”

Ilicco Elia, head of mobile at DigitasLBi added that the number of consumers using smartphones and tablets to research travel plans increasingly becoming the norm, the ‘Web Futures’ programme allows Virgin to create a future-proofed digital presence which “allows them to provide a consistent customer experience across new mobile platforms now and in years to come."
