News UK has re-launched its Times+ platform, a service for subscribers which gives them access to deals and perks in reward for their custom to The Times and Sunday Times.

Redesign: The Times+ website

The re-design of the website, carried out by digital agency Clock, was aimed at making the service more mobile-friendly after analysis showed that 45 per cent of users accessed it via a smartphone or tablet. As well as layout design changes, work was carried out on improving the site’s infrastructure and user experience.

The refreshed site now has geospatial location services to let customers know the distance between their postcodes and offer locations, and the website's events section has been given a breath of life with live streaming and event video archive services.

Claire Gribben, head of Times+ at News UK, said: “Times+ was the first newspaper loyalty programme in the UK and is now an integral part of a subscription to The Times and Sunday Times.

“With over 360,000 subscribers to engage, the new Times+ platform provides our members with an improved user experience accessible via PC, tablet and smartphone.”

Technical changes on the site included a switch from PHP to Node.js, a technology from Silicon Valley.
