Media Smart, the media literacy programme for children, and the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) have launched a short animated film to help parents and children understand digital advertising.

Released today (11 February) to coincide with Safer Internet Day, the film, titled “What does the ad say?” uses ‘top tips’ to help children understand advertising on the internet, such as sponsored search results.

Alex Scott, public policy manager at IAB UK, said: “Educating all consumers, whatever age, about digital marketing is important and collaborating with Media Smart to produce this video was a brilliant way to make a sometimes complex area simpler.”

The video will be added to Media Smart’s ‘Digital Adwise’ resource, which contains lesson plans and packs aimed at six to 11 year olds.
